What We Believe

ABOUT THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16-17;  2 Pet. 1:20-21).

We believe the Bible is the only guide to a relationship with God and, ultimately, our only guide to heaven (John 12:47-50; James 1:21).

About God

We believe that God exists eternally in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  These three are one God  (Matt. 3:16-17; 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 10:30).

We believe that God spoke the universe into existence (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 148:5; Heb. 11;3).

We believe that God is all-knowing, all powerful and ever-present (Ps. 139:1-4; Matt. 19:26; Ps. 46:1),

About Jesus

We believe Jesus was sent by God the Father into the world to save sinners (Luke 19:10).

We believe that Jesus was  born of a virgin (Matt. 1:20-25), sinless in life (Heb. 4:15), and mighty in words (Matt. 7:28-29) and deeds (Mark 4:37-39).

We  believe Jesus was both God and man (Col. 2:9), that He was crucified for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead.  He then ascended to His Father's side where He is head of the church and intercede's for believers (1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Hebrews 7:25).

We believe Jesus is coming again and that, as His children, we will gain the ultimate triumph-victory over sin and death and that He will bring us safely to His Heavenly kingdom (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Timothy 4:18).

about the holy spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God.  He indwells all Christians, baptizes and seals us at the moment of salvation, and empowers us to live holy lives (Acts 2:38; 2 Thess. 2:13; 2 Cor. 1:21, 22; 1 Cor. 6:19; 12:13; Rom. 8; Gal. 5:22-23).

about salvation

We believe that God saves us, not on the basis of what we have done, but according to his mercy and grace (Titus. 3:5; Eph. 2:8-10).  Salvation is a gift, which we can either accept or refuse.

We believe that our acceptance of God's gift of salvation includes; FAITH:  trust and obedience; REPENTANCE:  turning away from sin and towards God's will; and BAPTISM:  an immersion into Christ and newness of life (Acts 2:38; 2 Pet. 3:8, 9; John 3:1-7; Rom. 6:1-4; 1 Pet. 3:18-22).

We believe that it is by God's power or work that we are given salvation:  only He can forgive sins, clothe us with Christ, add us to the church or body, and save us (Acts 22:16; Galatians 3:27;
1 Corinthians 12:12, 13).

We  believe Christ has left to prepare a place for us and will return to take His followers to be with the Father.(John 14:1-4; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 1 John 3:2)

About the church

We believe that God's church is the body of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23), which is composed of his disciples / Christians (Acts 11:26), who  together serve, evangelize, and edify - one another and the world (Acts 2:42-47).
